Love painting and want to adventure to painting in the great outdoors? Join Christine Steinmiller in this half day plein air painting workshop tailored for both novice and intermediate artists. No matter your level of experience in your chosen medium—whether it's oil, acrylic, watercolor, or pastels—this workshop is designed to help you explore the joys of outdoor painting.

For beginners in plein air, prior experience with your medium is recommended but no plein air experience needed. Intermediate painters should have some experience painting outdoors and a basic understanding of their medium, seeking to refine their skills.

Participants will receive a list of essential items to bring, including paints, easels, and other necessary supplies for outdoor painting. (Basic sets of watercolor and Acrylic paints, paint brushes, and pallets available for purchase at Art Hub)

Throughout the workshop, you'll:

  • Discuss the benefits and challenges of painting outdoors

  • Learn about essential plein air equipment and setup, along with insights from Christine's own experiences

  • Watch demonstrations by Christine using oil on canvas board, followed by hands-on painting sessions where you'll use your preferred medium. Christine will offer tips, critiques, and personalized guidance to each participant.

Our main focus is to provide you with an opportunity to complete a small painting while honing your skills and enjoying the plein air experience. Join us as we capture the beauty of nature on canvas together.

We will meet at 8am in Art Hub’s classroom (a baked good will also be ready for you!) and then venture out to paint, ending the class with a final critique in the classroom.
