Service is about learning to look beyond ourselves and step into our community with kindness, responsibility, and heart. In our service camps, campers will explore what it truly means to be part of something bigger — how small acts can make a big difference, and how showing up for others builds stronger friendships, neighborhoods, and confidence within ourselves. We’ll talk about empathy, teamwork, leadership, and the value of giving our time and talents. Service isn’t just volunteering — it’s learning to care, contribute, and grow into thoughtful, capable members of our community.
In this hands-on Landscaping Service Camp, campers will put those ideas into action by helping clean up the garden bed in front of the Plow on Main Street and a few flower beds at Amundson Community Center. These public spaces belong to our village, and our public works crew can truly use the extra hands. Campers will learn basic landscaping skills, discover the difference between native perennials and annuals, and begin identifying common invasive weeds. Most importantly, they’ll leave knowing they made a visible difference — every time they ride down Main Street, they’ll see the impact of their work and feel proud of the role they played in caring for their community.
Campers will start and end their day at Art Hub. We will be walking to our locations. Wear appropriate clothing, sunscreen and bring a waterbottle. A light snack will be provided.
