Turn your favorite memories into a quilt you'll treasure for years to come! If you've been saving concert shirts, sports jerseys, school shirts, race tees, or other meaningful t-shirts, this class will guide you through the process of transforming them into a beautiful full-size quilt.
Working step-by-step, you'll learn how to prepare your shirts, design your layout, piece your quilt top, and assemble your quilt. Basic sewing skills are required, as this is not a beginner sewing class. If you're new to sewing, we recommend taking Sewing Machine 101 before enrolling.
If you have your own sewing machine, we encourage you to bring it so you can become more familiar with using it. We will also have a limited number of sewing machines available for students who don't have their own.
Students will need to bring:
49 t-shirts that can be cut into 12-inch squares (plus a few extras in case some designs don't fit)
2.5 yards of 108-inch-wide quilting cotton or 7.5 yards of 44-inch-wide quilting cotton for the backing
Fabric for sashing or borders if you have a specific color or design in mind. We will also have fabric available to use for the front of the quilt.
