A small canvas is a great place to explore the possibilities of mixed media. Mixed media is a huge category of art making and it can be overwhelming to know where to start. This class will give you one method of developing a mixed media piece.
We will start by preparing our canvases with collaged book pages and Gelli printed leaves and flowers. Then we will work on paper, drawing leaves and flowers using a variety of tools on a variety of different kinds of paper. Next up is painting some botanicals with watercolors. You will also have the opportunity to use some of my hand carved botanical stamps. The flowers we create will be embellished with colored pencils, acrylic paint pens and fine liners both before and after cutting them out. The shapes will be combined with text to create a pleasing composition, and different adhesives will be explored.
