Madison, WI
Hello, I am Gauri, the creative heart and mind behind Prettyful Creations. As a passionate maker and a very hands-on person, I have a strong desire to learn and explore various arts. Throughout my life, I have dabbled in cooking, baking, painting etc. However, I discovered a particular passion for wood burning, where I found joy in creating intricate henna and mandala patterns. Alongside my creative endeavors, I have also a strong desire for sharing my skills with others. I am a skilled creator who revels in hands on craftmanship, a passionate educator who imparts knowledge, an artistic soul who thrives on connecting with others. Driven by ambition, I decided to bring all my creative desires under one roof, giving birth to Prettyful Creations. It serves as a platform where I can express myself, showcase my craftmanship and offer unique creations that reflect my artistic journey.

Tonya Cameron
Whitewater, WI
I have been in the fashion industry for three decades working as a makeup artist. When the world shut down I needed a creative outlet and so I tried my hand at a different kind of painting, on a canvas. I have loved Rock N Roll since I was a child, so it only made sense to paint my Rock n Roll heroes. My art is featured in the Rock n Roll hall of fame, along with a few galleries and I recently started doing the art fair circuit around the Midwest. I love this new adventure and I hope you enjoy my art as much as I do creating it.

Jeanette Clawson
Madison, WI
I create art to contribute to peace and beauty in the world and in myself by including flow and play as critical components of my creative process. It helps me manage my physical and mental health challenges and brings me joy.
Environmentalism strongly impacts my work, and I enjoy finding new uses for old things, particularly books and many kinds of paper. Flowers and other botanicals are my main sources of inspiration, particularly in the intersection of nature and geometry. I carve my own rubber stamps to create repeating patterns and focal points, paint papers in many different ways, apply the Zentangle Method of drawing and play with acrylic paint and many different adhesives to create rich, layered pieces of art.
Teaching art allows me to share my joy in the process of creation. I love to see how people interpret what I share and I'm so inspired by my students. Making art is usually a solitary practice and teaching art is a very rewarding social interaction.

Courtney Cosgriff - Deerloom
Madison, WI
I'm Courtney Cosgriff, the face and weaver behind Deerloom. Since I started weaving about 4 years ago, I've become totally obsessed and it has taken over my life in the best possible way. I find myself drawn to retro lines and vibrant colors. I find color inspiration everywhere I look and I hope I'm always as excited about weaving as I am now.

Ellen Crane
Fort Atkinson, WI
My interest in movement and background in dance led me to explore various methods of expressing kinetic energy in still photographs. I strive to create imagery that conveys vitality, joy and transcendence. I danced with the Milwaukee Ballet, Southwest Ballet, and Ballet Michigan before moving to New York, where I graduated from New York University. My photographs have appeared in Dance Magazine, The New York Times, New York Magazine, and the Village Voice. After living in Manhattan for 14 years, I moved to a small town in the Lower Hudson Valley until re-locating to Fort Atkinson, WI to care for my mother and start a new life chapter. I was happy to connect with Art Hub through the Art on Main event. My recent Carnival Colorscapes were captured with a long exposure and moving camera at various county fairs in Southern Wisconsin. Their effects are created in camera, not with digital manipulation. This series evolved from my fireworks images, which were captured in a similar manner.

Glen Cutcher
Cambridge, WI
Glen’s passion for pottery began in college and quickly became his life’s work. After earning his art degree from Western Michigan University in 1978, he sold his pieces through art fairs, galleries, and his own studio before moving to Wisconsin, where he joined Rowe Pottery Works. There, he refined his craft as a production potter—creating up to 25,000 pots per year—and later served as head of product development, designing and sculpting prototypes, molds, and masters. In 2005, Glen returned to personal studio work, developing a distinctive line of vases, plates, platters, bowls, and spheres that combine function with artistry. His work, inspired by organic and natural forms, is both decorative and functional, reflecting his love for creating pieces that enhance everyday life as well as special occasions.

Richard Desens
Edgerton, WI
I started painting when I was 6 years old, painting model cars and airplanes. At 19 years old I started doing autobody, and spray painting cars, trucks and motorcycles, and industrial painting, and did this for 50 years. Got laid off from my last job in 2008 when the housing bubble burst. In 2010 I started painting on canvas and fell in love with it. I will continue doing this as long as I am able.

Janesille, WI
My name is Krystal Doubleday. I am a Edgerton, WI native. I am married to my husband David Doubleday. We have 2 children, a dog, a cat and a few fish. I am currently located in Janesville, WI.
I’ve been drawing since I could pick up a pencil. In high school I took as many art classes as I could fit in. I attended Madison Media Institute, where I got a degree in Video Production and Motion Graphics.
My art is heavily influenced by my love for anime/manga, big eye art and pop surrealism . I was introduced to big eye art by my art teacher in high school. Since then the characters that I have developed have fallen into the big eye pop surrealism category. My main media is a combination of marker and colored pencil. I also do use acrylic and gouache when I paint.

Tammy Downing
Edgerton, WI
My name is Tammy Downing. I feel in love with art during my time at UW-whitewater where I graduated with a minor in art. My first love was painting and continued to paint after graduating. I also had a passion for pottery.
Raising my family and working full time left little time to follow my passion, but most of my jobs allowed me to use my art minor. The children are grown and I then found more time to pursue my passion.
I like making suncatchers. I also love to do pour paintings. I enjoy creating art with resin. I love being able to combine all or some of these together to make interesting pieces of art or pendants. I like pendants because they are little pieces of art you can wear. I even do some airbrushing on my pour paintings.

For the majority of my professional career, I worked as a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders. After retirement several years ago, my life long interest in photography evolved into a deeper appreciation of all things artful. I would like to think that my current artwork represents the efforts of all those who discover artistic expression later in life, and who continue to learn, to create and to flourish.
I am a member of the following organizations: The Madison Art Guild, Wisconsin Visual Artists, Wisconsin Regional Artists Association. My artwork has been exhibited at several local venues, including the Overture Center For The Arts.

Hi! My name is Gina and I am the fiber artist here at The Cashmere Pirate. I started my business in 2021, but have been a lover of all things fiber for many more years. I'll admit it, I have an addiction to yarn. I am simply fascinated by the textures and colors of natural fiber yarns and have found I just can't get enough of them.
I find I am the happiest when I'm creating and I love making modern wearable pieces that truly showcase the simple beauty of natural fibers. Not only are my pieces beautiful to feel & look at, but they will keep you warm & toasty during our Wisconsin winters. I hope you will enjoy wearing them as much as I enjoyed making them.

Hello! My name is Megan and the owner of Meadow Emporium I first learned how to knit when I was a little girl when my great grandmother taught how to. I’ve always loved the arts whether it be theatre, fiber arts, or painting I enjoy it all. I learned how to crochet later on and fell in love with it.
Meadow Emporium opened in 2021 (under the name HappKnit)when I moved to college at UW Madison. I never expected it to be something that I enjoy so much and surround my life by. I am currently getting my bachelors in textiles and use my studies to enhance the quality of my products.
All of my items are made with love and a lot of attention to detail. I love making things and want to always produce the highest quality item I possibly can.
Sun Prairie, WI
Hello! My name is Tammi Henke, but many people know me as Mrs. H! I taught art in the Deerfield School District for 31 years. I really loved my job, all the students, and the Deerfield community. I was SO fortunate to be able to spread the joy of art and creativity to the students that came through my door every day for all those years. But it finally came time for me to say goodbye to teaching full-time and pursue other options, so I retired at the end of the 2021 school year.
Since retirement, I have been doing more traveling, and I have more time to work on new hobbies, like cooking and trying new types of crafts. I also like to bike, play piano, and of course, work on my own art! I now have quite a bit more time to be creative for myself, so I have been able to experiment with my favorite art mediums which are, photography, painting, and mostly collage work. I create various types of recycled collages by using the text and colored pages of magazines. Often they are painted on as well, and sometimes include stitching or other embellishments. The subject matter varies greatly, and can range from natural elements, like flowers or rainbows, to inspirational quotes and thoughts.
I hope that you enjoy my artwork and that you might find some inspiration from it for yourself. We are all artists in our own ways--often it is just finding what moves us!

I love painting people, especially portraits, exploring color and composition, creating a work that captures an individual, whether or not it's a perfect representation. I am an oil painter that's called Wisconsin home for the past five years. Originally from Virginia, I actually studied economics with a studio art minor in college, and moved here after graduation for a job I was at until halfway through 2023. After quitting that job in pursuit of a happier and healthier work/life balance, I quickly discovered I was no longer willing to sacrifice my creative time.
For the longest time, my only outlet was weekly life drawing and painting sessions at Atwood Atelier where I learned how to oil paint from Philip Salamone and many other fantastic artists. I love painting portraits, playing with color, and capturing the essence of an individual, especially when captured from a live model.
Now, I'm building a painting business, taking on commissions, working as a gallery manager, and running social media for my beloved studio, Atwood Atelier. I hope you enjoy my work!"

My Mom taught me to knit when I was a young child and it’s stuck with me for 60+ years. She is my inspiration; even after macular degeneration took most of her vision, she continued to knit into her 80s.
I like to work with big needles, looms, and BIG yarn. Knitting brings me peace and serenity and makes me feel close to my Mom who passed in 2010.
In the rhythm of the needles there is music for the soul.

Fort Atkinson, WI
My name is Vickie Kiernan and I’m a life-long resident of Fort Atkinson. After working for a local company for almost 20 years, I retired and knew it was time to get back to my favorite hobby, painting! For the past few years, I’ve been studying and painting whenever the chance arose. Here on display and for sale, are some of my works. These are original artworks.
My husband, Eric, has also joined my endeavor and is creating the beautiful authentic barn board frames for my work that you see on some of my paintings. These boards are generally not straight nor uniform which brings on many challenges in creating them; but he has a way of making them not only fit together but also marry with the painting that they have been created for.

Juliet has an unrelenting appetite for making. After four years of college at the University of Whitewater, Juliet obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree with an emphasis in graphic design. Shortly after graduation, they started a small business to share their illustrations, printmaking, and fiber art.
Juliet founded Hijinx Mixed Media as a way to spread joy and laughter through art. Sometimes their art is humorous just for a laugh, but sometimes it's humorous as a way to take the edge off harder-to-talk-about subjects such as depression, racism, and body positivity. Navigating through the world as a mixed race queer person, Juliet hopes to encourage community, solidarity, and resistance through accessible imagery and loud messages.

Best known for my work in mixed media, I also enjoy
experimenting with new mediums. Experiences in my life, especially the busy life I lead with my family, are often the foundation of ideas for my work. I am proud to call Fort Atkinson my home and to share my talents in the surrounding communities. I find joy in working with acrylic paint, handmade paper, fabrics, mixed media and natural materials to create a variety of art including:
paintings, handmade books, journals, cards and collages. I also create concrete mosaic sculptures.
As a life-long learner, I am always interested in exploring new techniques, taking classes and especially enjoy collaborating on projects. Most recently, I have enjoyed traveling abroad to learn about other cultures and study art.

Joshua Ludke is an artist, teacher, nature enthusiast and father, who is driven to create and to pass on the spirit of creation to others. His current work comes out of a passion for giving new life to found, discarded pieces of wood while trying to honor the natural origins of his chosen media.
“The joy in my work is in the discovery process. I love to scavenge for curb wood and scraps and other bits and pieces like guitar strings and discarded hardware. It is my hope that my work invites people not only to enjoy and appreciate the interesting creatures that I create, but also perhaps consider the circle of life of the materials that come and go from our lives.”

Peter Ludt - Loot
Black Earth, WI
I am a full time high school ceramics teacher who loves creating in clay. I live in Black Earth, Wisconsin with my wife and three kids and I have been making art my whole life. My ceramic inspiration comes from the natural world of Southern Wisconsin, grounded in functionality. I spend a lot of time outside; fishing, hiking, camping and canoeing. The shapes, textures and forms that I create are inspired by the organic elements I find on my explorations. The glaze colors reflect the changing seasons of Wisconsin with the occasional splash of color you'll find just about anywhere. My work is clean, simple and reflects the design of originality and craftsmanship. Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy.

Jason Miklik
Cambridge, WI
I am devoted to portrait arts: the art that uses the human face in many ways to express my feelings and exploration of human psychology. And to further understand who I am and who is sitting or standing before me. Often I go off subject to create in free range.

Deerfield, WI
Coloring photos by hand allows me to reinterpret an image in a way film or prints cannot. It allows me to convey a sense of nostalgia. Each image begins with either a black and white photo or a digital painting printed in color. Black and white images are hand colored. Digital paintings are hand embellished, where I add more color. I used a variety of mediums including pan pastels, acrylics, photo oils and water colors.
I was inspired to hand color photos by a print by Wallace Nutting which was a wedding gift given to my grandparents vin the early 1900’s.

Cambridge, WI
I grew up in southeast Wisconsin on a dairy farm. My grandmother, a professional seamstress, inspired me to create. Sewing, knitting and baking were outlets for that creative desire until I could start to take art classes in school.
When my husband retired from the Navy, we lived in DePere where I got involved with the local art groups. Painting furniture, then murals and applying faux finishes were among my first art projects.
Work took us to the east coast. I discovered oil painting workshops with Al Staszesky who was mentored by Ed Loper, at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington DE. Both were students of the Barnes Foundation. As a result, I now work with a limited palette, choosing to mix my own colors. It allows me to play with the interaction of color next to color with a wider range of variety. Since returning to Wisconsin, art fairs, plein air events, and art shows have been my focus.
"Paint the color you see. Don't be afraid to put the brush to canvas. It's only paint."
My style has evolved through observation and changes in my environment, but I have learned not to take myself too seriously as a result. I paint what I feel as I know that each piece that is created ends up qualifying the one before, and becomes a recognizable style.
I have always been fascinated by Wisconsin artists Bridget Austin and Joye Moon’s ability to use negative space in their art for a long time. I started to see new uses trending in some of the artists I followed on the internet such as Este Mcleod, Jessica Swift and Charlie O Sullivan. Started exploring by painting over unfinished paintings, leaving parts of the original painting exposed. Birds were easy shapes to create. I then moved on to regional icons.
Recently I have been working on large floral paintings. I cover the canvas with different colors and then start to paint in the negative space as I see floral shapes. The process has evolved as each piece teaches me something new.

I grew up in a baptist home in the middle of the desert on a christian camp property. At 27 years old, I had a mental breakdown from a lifetime of trauma. That became the Spiritual Breakthrough of my life and the Beginning of Everything. I met my therapist Paula. I learned about nervous system science and how the body stores everything that has ever happened to it. I now work in my community with the Magic of Body through Embodiment Coaching and Art. My documentary project "American Home" will be released soon, and I'm looking forward to photographing free Liberation Portraits for people who are wanting to share their story. In 2016 myself and my husband was given the opportunity to live in Wisconsin USA, during this time I rediscovered my love and need to create art for my own mental health."

My journey began in 1978 while attending Saint Johns University in central Minnesota. I was originally interested in painting but after taking a ceramics class, drawn to clay. It simply felt right. In 1981, I had a opportunity to travel to central France and worked in the historic pottery village of La Borne. It was there I had my first experience firing wood-burning kilns. I was immediately seduced by the process and results from these kilns. Returning home in 1983, I sought an apprenticeship with Todd Piker at the, Cornwall Bridge Pottery and in 1988, moved to Wisconsin where I established the foundation for my first kiln.

April Smithback
Cambridge, WI
Located in Cambridge, Wisconsin, April Smithback has created art in various mediums her entire life. In late 2022 she discovered needle and wet felting and it quickly became her passion. Starting in 3D she soon combined her love of painting natural landscapes with wool. She uses vintage pieces she finds at antique stores as unique frames and mounts for her pictures. Most of her inspiration is drawn from areas around her and is captured in the name of her business, Out My Window Felting. I'm a retired groundskeeper and gardener, with a long standing interest in art. I am particularly fond of the photo journalistic aspect of photography. The spontaneity, the quickness and the just plain luck intrigues me. I especially enjoy the occasional "happy accident", when I get something of interest I hadn't anticipated. My goals are two fold, to continue to learn as an artist and to create interesting images that reflect my love for, and interest in, the world around me

Mary Tilton

As an artist, I tell stories through shapes. The way elements fit together to form a whole is central to my work, much like how words create a narrative. A painting often begins when something catches my eye—the sweep of a tree limb, the curve of a hillside, or a gesture that suggests emotion. I build around that moment, arranging shapes to create balance, meaning, and a sense of place or memory. I move between the story in my mind and the one unfolding on the surface, leaving space for the viewer to finish the narrative.
I work in both watercolor and oil, each with its own personality and way of expressing ideas. While I paint a wide range of subjects, I’m especially drawn to the land—particularly the beauty of Wisconsin. Painting is my primary medium, but I also enjoy working in clay, wood, fiber, and metal. I’m continually inspired by the creativity of others and the endless possibilities of making.
Sophia Voelker - Black Butterfly Studio
Madison, WI
I am a self-taught artist born in San Jose, California. Throughout my art career, I have focused on creating purposeful and thought-provoking work while using an aesthetically designed approach, be it humorous or calming. Some events in my life are covered in my artwork in such a way that resonates with me. I use various mediums in my pieces such as acrylic on canvas, driftwood, repurposed glass, and drywall mud. These materials allow me to better express a specific topic I need to create.
Each piece is a reflection of my childhood and the life experiences I continue to gain. My inspiration to start painting began in my teenage years after observing my grandmother's sketches and my Uncle Mark Sabino’s art career. I also heard about one of my family members designing the St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands flag, which further encouraged me to pursue my passion for art. These artistic connections have helped shape my ambitions to bond with the art communities wherever I reside.

Fort Atkinson, WI
My creative process is rooted in exploration and transformation. I work with mosaics, using traditional materials like smalti and stained glass, while incorporating reclaimed elements such as rusted metal, found objects, and paper. I’m inspired by the beauty in overlooked materials, each with its own history. My process begins with a paper collage to experiment with colors and movement before adding glass and metal. This intuitive yet structured approach allows me to create dynamic, textural, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Lately, my work has focused on animals and elements of nature. There’s no deep reason for this—my process simply feels natural. The textures of my materials lend themselves to capturing the life and character of creatures and organic forms. I enjoy the challenge of creating life from objects others discard, bringing vibrancy and personality to each piece.

I'm David Ryan Wheaton, a Madison, WI-based artist dedicated to creating bright and bold acrylic spray paintings that shed light on behavioral health and the journey of recovery. Drawing from my personal experiences living with bipolar disorder and overcoming alcoholism, my art serves as a catalyst for connection and inspiration. My educational background at UW Madison, where I studied art and interior design with an emphasis on color theory, has profoundly influenced my vibrant artistic style.
My artwork, showcased in local galleries and art shows throughout the Midwest, delves into themes of behavioral health, substance abuse, dual diagnosis, and the complex path to healing. By embracing vulnerability in my creations and personal stories, I hope to foster relatable experiences and connections with others.
Let's celebrate the transformative power of art and the resilience of the human spirit together.

David Williams has been painting all of his life but has specialized in watercolors and water media since 2010 when he realized that chasing flowing pigment around in a puddle of water with a brush was analogous to the lack of control over the rest of his life. But much more fun. He says “there is a natural lack of control in water media which adds to the naturalness and excitement in a painting”.
His representational style emphasizes design and movement over strict realism.
David normally paints in his studio but also attends a number of plein air events each year.
He has lived in the Madison area since 1990. He is Past President of the Madison Art Guild, Vice President of the Madison Watercolor Society, a member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and a professional member of Wisconsin Visual Artists.
His works have been shown at the Pumphouse Art Center in La Crosse, Playhouse Gallery at the Overture, the Gallery at Solarium, Dane County Regional Airport, Alverno College in Milwaukee, New Visions Gallery at Marshfield Clinics, Woodland Studios in Stoughton, the Wusted Museum in Racine, as part of MMOCA’s Gallery Night in Madison, the Cedarburg Art Museum, the Freeport Art Museum, Re:Vision Gallery in Kenosha, River Arts in Prairie du Sac, the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator, the Riverfront Arts Center in Stevens Point, the Monroe Arts Center in Monroe, Old Court House Art Center in Woodstock, Illinois, the Portage Center for the Arts at Tivoli, New Visions Gallery, Isthmus Art and Framing, Drumlin Ridge Winery, Al Ringling Theatre in Baraboo, Communication Madison, Paoli Road Mercantile, UW Hospital, and the Pyle Center in Madison, WI.
