How and where did your art practice begin?

Working at Green Bay Art Supply gave me the most opportunity to explore what I wanted to do. It was the hub of art activity in Northeast Wisconsin and my manager let me try out a lot of new products.

Where do you draw inspiration for your forms/designs?

Flowers, just because they have a universal appeal. Also animals and birds because they are abundant in Wisconsin.

How do you plan your pieces and how do you decide when they’re finished?

I don't plan much other than decide what colors I want to use.

What draws you to your specific/preferred medium?

Acrylic paint is forgivable and not near as messy as oils can be.

Who were your mentors or what resources did you use to learn your medium?

I learned a lot from Al Staszesky who was mentored by Ed Loper Sr. Both of them had attended the Barnes in Philadelphia.

Upcoming events/sales/where can your work be purchased?

I will have a joint exhibit with two other artists at Overt Space in Stoughton in Sept to mid October. I’ll be at the ArtHub for the Earth Wood and Fire Art studio tour the end of October. Nov 1-19 is the Black Hawk Artists show at the Hoard Museum in Fort Atkinson. Then Nov 7-8 I’ll be at the Winter Art Fair off the Square at the Monona Terrace in Madison.
