Cutting edge art journaling adds visual interest to your art journal. We will use stencils to create a new edge that we will cut after painting. Gelli printing is one of my favorite ways to make collage fodder. I will provide junk mail and scrap paper that we will make into gelli prints using simple techniques with stencils. We will cut these papers up to make an interesting composition in our art journals. Then we will finish the pages with additional mark making.

Let’s transform old library books into lovely art journals. This class is perfect for someone just getting into making art but will also have novel techniques (or nonfiction) that will be interesting to the experienced artist. Learn how to repurpose a hardcover book using acrylic paint, collage fodder, writing tools and stencils. We will explore using what you find in the book for inspiration.

I focus on gratitude in my art journals, but they can be used in many ways to help you reach goals and improve your art skills, overall health, and satisfaction with your life. An art journal is a great place to experiment with art supplies and different techniques. We will do an art journal page layout using acrylic paints, junk mail or scrap paper and a variety of stencils, paint markers and pens.

Discover the creative possibilities of cutting-edge art journaling in this playful and inspiring class. We’ll transform old library books into unique art journals using acrylic paint, writing tools, collage fodder, and stencils. You’ll learn simple gelli printing techniques—using junk mail and scrap paper—to create vibrant, textured collage elements. We’ll cut, layer, and arrange these prints into eye-catching compositions, then finish with expressive mark making.
