In this hands-on class, students will learn the core skills of oil painting in a fun, encouraging environment. Award-winning oil painter Chris Steinmiller will guide you through the essentials—how to set up your palette, mix colors with confidence, and use brushes and palette knives to build texture and depth. You’ll also be introduced to helpful mediums and techniques that bring your work to life.
Chris creates in oils, acrylics, pastels, and mixed media, with a special love for painting outdoors “en plein air.” She brings years of experience, including participation in regional plein air competitions, and looks forward to inspiring you through demos and one-on-one coaching.
Perfect for total beginners or anyone wanting to strengthen their fundamentals, this class will give you a solid foundation in oil painting—and a finished piece to take home. Chris can’t wait to paint with you!
