THE RAKU EXPERIENCE!
Hey There
What is Raku you might ask? Raku firing is a pottery technique where glazed ceramics are removed from a hot kiln and immediately placed into a smoldering container of combustible material, like sawdust or newspaper. This creates a reduction atmosphere, causing unique and unpredictable color variations and surface effects in the glaze. The process is known for its rapid cooling and dramatic results, with no two pieces ever being quite the same.
In other words, it’s pretty awesome to watch and even more fun to make a piece and WATCH THAT ONE GET FIRED!
Art Hub has wheel thrown vases in various sizes ranging in price for you to come and glaze! They are all thrown right here in our studio by a few of our ceramic artists and instructors. We also added a new Glaze color to our collection!
